Prayer Tower Apostolic Church was established in the early 1970’s by Pastor Ethel Fur.  She served as Pastor until the early 1980’s, and then she turned over her duties to Elder John Payton, who continued to carry out the work until his health no long permitted.  Sadly to say, there was no one in line for him to pass the torch too, subsequently the church had to close and the members were scattered aboard, hoping to one day be reunited.

In 1987, Pastor Pearl Bobbitt was pressed upon by the Lord to reestablish the work of Prayer Tower Apostolic Church with blessings from Bishop Raymond O. Murray.  Prayer Tower Apostolic Church was established again and the members of the church heard that the work was established and begin coming back with excitement and joy.

In 1995, they were able to purchase a building at 146 Norfolk Street in Dorchester, MA where the church currently resides.  In 1996, Pastor Pearl Bobbitt and the Prayer Tower Apostolic Church family united with the United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) under the leadership of Bishop Monroe Saunders, Sr.

In August of 1999, Pastor Pearl Bobbitt fell ill, during her illness she asked Bishop Luther Washington, Pastor of New Rehoboth Bethel Church, if he would allow Elder Antoine M. Montgomery, Sr. to come over and serve in her absence.

On September 19, 1999, Pastor Pearl Bobbitt was called home to be with the Lord.  It was her desire for Elder Antoine M. Montgomery, Sr., to take leadership of Prayer Tower Apostolic Church.  Elder Montgomery served as interim pastor until Bishop Monroe Saunders, Sr., installed him as Pastor in June 2000.

Elder Montgomery, along with his wife, Lady Sonja M. Montgomery is presently serving and carrying out the vision that God has for Prayer Tower Apostolic Church.
